New York producer, musician, songwriter and singer Two Feet (real name Zachary Dess) has shared his debut album, A 20 Something F**k, two years after first appearing anonymously online to road test his demos. It hasn’t been an easy few years for Dess, and recently he posted a suicide note to Twitter that led to fans and friends reaching out to him to remind him that he’s loved and his music matters. For anyone who has become a loyal listener to Two Feet, it’s probably because the humanity of his lyrics and the vivaciousness of his music chimed with something deep inside. His eight-track record release is also a great time to step on the bandwagon if this is your first time hearing about Dess, and as always we have a brand new List Pick. ‘Back Of My Mind’ stays true to Two Feet’s personal style of speaker-breaking bass and sultry guitar lines that draw parallels to his first two EPs. There’s a psychedelic flair to the opening of ‘Back Of My Mind’, as Dess boldly states, “I keep running from my own life, because I’d rather not fight…” and yet, like many of us who are trying to make ourselves better, we tempted by the distraction of relationships. Whether romantic, platonic, sexual… it’s all too easy to fall into that well.
